Pelican Pre-School has been in operation for more than 20 years. With a group of qualified, experienced and friendly educators, Pelican creates an inviting, friendly and nurturing environment for children from ages 12 months to 6 years old. The Centre is equipped with a large outdoor play environment, and is well resourced with age-appropriate educational support equipment, resources and systems. Families can expect interest-based, child-focused and interactive learning and play experiences for their children. Curriculum is designed using the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), and each child has an individual work plan or portfolio. To facilitate the transition to the School system by age of 5 or 6, Pelican has built in an extensive School Readiness Programme in the curriculum, encouraging numeracy, literacy, writing, recognition, and pre-reading skills. Pelican has received an overall rating of 'Exceeding NQS' in the most recent NQS assessment (undertaken in early 2014).
